A sump pump pit or french drainage system is the most important part of any waterproofing system. Every house should have a unique solution based on the surrounding environment, (soil type, water table levels, grading) foundation quality, (age, condition, rock, block or poured) Among other factors. Sump pump pits come in various sizes to accommodate  different situations. Arguably the preferred drainage solution would be a french drain.
